Most locals are aware that the Picts were settled in Burghead, long before us. The Moray Firth has always been a good source of food and so boats have always played an important role. When the Viking's raided rumour has it that the Picts put their treasures into wooden chests, took them out into the Firth and flung them overboard! So, it's always good idea to beachcomb when the tide goes out as you never know what you may find.
