Ornithophobia Mystery Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

Totes KraKra: May 1st, 2025
Cache Temporarily Disabled

Dear Fellow Geocachers,

As of May 1st, this cache has been temporarily disabled.

Sorry to inform all you eager seekers of hidden treasure that this geocache is being deactivated for the next year or so. The Forest Service is closing down the area for wildfire abatement and forest management—important work that helps protect this beautiful region for the long term.

Rest assured, the cache itself is safe and sound. This isn’t goodbye—it’s just a brief pause. Sometime in a year or so on a bright sunny day, when the threat of harm is gone and the area open to recreation the cache will return when the forest reopens to the public. Until then, thank you for your visits, your logs, and your spirit of adventure.

Stay safe, explore wisely, and keep the GPS warm.

Till we meet again,

Totes KraKra #2349 finds so far 🤠 on this awesome Thursday!

Geocache Description:

Important Notice:

I will be temporarily disabling this geocache due to Forest closures in the area, beginning May 1 2025, to support critical forest restoration efforts. The 34,600-acre closure will last at least one year

The closure will affect several major access points and recreation areas, including Horse Butte Trailhead, Coyote Butte OHV area, Bessie Butte Trailhead, Boyd Cave, and popular rock pits used for recreational shooting within the project area.

The closure will restrict all access, including day use and overnight camping, while crews operate heavy machinery, conduct prescribed burns, and clean up hazardous materials. The work, aims to reduce wildfire risk and restore damaged habitats in the wildland-urban interface near Bend.

Ornithophobia

     Or-nuh-thoh-foh-bee-uh

            1. Extreme or irrational fear of birds resulting from watching an Alfred Hitchcock movie as a young child

This is another in a series of phobia caches by Totes Krakra that identify some of the phobias that Geocachers might be afflicted with as they hike, climb and poke their way around in search of the elusive smiley.

Spring has sprung and with it the robins, sparrows, crows and woodpeckers are flying about squawking and building their nests.  Beware and keep your mouth closed if you look up to watch a flyover.   You are looking for a well camoflaged container.

Now is the time to face your fears.  Psychologists say that one of the best ways to overcome a phobia is to face it.  Well get to it. You are looking for a bird, but a bird on a wire will assist you in your decoding the clues.

Solve the puzzle to find the missing Coordinates N 43 58.XXX  W 121 14.ZZZ   Then place the full coordinates into the checker to see how you did.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
