Y Not Find a Cache! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

JavaJudt: I reached out to the city parks and rec department. The Recreation Superintendent responded, and confirmed that the ball fields are actually leased by athletic associations. So that would be up to them, not the city, for geocache permission (even though it is still a city park). He confirmed that the department is completely on board with geocaching in non-leased city parks.

Since it was requested this cache be removed, I am archiving it, and will be retrieving the container next time I am in town (planning for 5/20). Apologies to land managers for any trouble this has caused.

Unfortunately, I never thought I would have to archive an unfound cache! Thanks to everyone who has looked for it! I truly didn't intend for this to be too difficult of a hide, at least for experienced cachers - must be my hider's bias. In case anyone wants to know how this was hidden, I will post a spoiler photo when I retrieve it!

Geocache Description:

When explaining geocaching to muggles, I often get a blank stare, followed by questions like:

  • "Who hides them?"
  • "What do you get out of it?"
  • "When did this scavenger hunt contest start, like last month?"
  • "Where do you go geocaching? Certainly not around here, right?"
  • "How much cash do you find in these geo cashes?"

To those folks, I offer this response: "Y not find a cache? It'll answer all of your questions! And then you'll have a brand new set of questions!" So that's what this cache is for. It is just a cache I placed so that other people would have a cache to find. Experienced players need caches to find. New players need caches to find. Here you go. Y not go for a walk and have some fun!

This cache is placed just off of a paved walking trail at Chautauqua Park on the south side of Sioux City. (No, not in South Sioux City, like the lady I heard on the phone earlier kept trying to claim.) It is hidden mostly out of sight. Be sure to exercise extra stealth if the trail is busy or games are going on.
