Il était coutume autrefois d'exécuter les criminels condamnés à la pendaison en un endroit écarté de la localité, élevé de préférence. A Wavre dès le 16e siècle, le gibet était planté sur une terre réservée à cet effet et appelée "Terre de Justice".
Bien que sa fonction primitive soit peu réjouissante, le site garde néanmoins une valeur historique non négligeable que je vous invite à découvrir.

Vroeger was het gebruikelijk om criminelen te executeren die veroordeeld waren om op een plaats buiten de stad te hangen, bij voorkeur op een hoge plek. In Waver werd vanaf de 16e eeuw de galg aangeplant op een daarvoor gereserveerd land dat "Land van Justitie" werd genoemd.
Hoewel de primitieve functie ervan niet bemoedigend is, behoudt de site toch een aanzienlijke historische waarde, die ik u uitnodig om te ontdekken.
De container is geschikt voor het opbergen van een reisobject.
Vergeet niet een pen mee te nemen om het logboek te ondertekenen.
