Fort Mandan
Located west of modern day Washburn, and named by the Corps of Discovery for the nearby Mandan tribe. It operated as a winter quarters for the Corps of Discovery from fall 1804 to spring 1805. This is the site in which Sacagawea and Charbonneau joined the expedition.
This is one in a short series of geocaches south of Tioga. Quick grabs but named to highlight the history of Forts in North Dakota. Have tweezers to attempt these caches. Replace as found. If you ever have a problem with one of my caches, please reach out to me!
