Geocache Description:

Fort Totten

Located south of Devils Lake. In operation to protect overland travel and contain the Sioux from 1867 until 1890. After it's decommission in 1890, it became a school for the tribes under the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Between 1935 and 1939, the Fort was briefly a Tuberculosis Preventorium. In 1960 it became a North Dakota State Historic Site.

This is one in a short series of geocaches south of Tioga. Quick grabs but named to highlight the history of Forts in North Dakota. Have tweezers to attempt these caches. Replace as found. If you ever have a problem with one of my caches, please reach out to me!
