PARK AT THE POSTED COORDINATES
The Shroom Hunt series will acquaint you with some of the most common mushrooms found in northern Minnesota. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to ID this mushroom to genus using the photos and text provided.
In many cases you might find the actual mushrooms along this trail. If you happen to find morels, please PM me.

One of the most elusive and sought-after mushrooms, these appear in spring when soil temperatures hit 40-50o F. The black species are common in northern Minnesota while the larger yellows are common in the southern part of the state. Like a good fishing hole, hunters are pretty tight-lipped about revealing the locations of their favorite sites.
In forests deep, where secrets sleep,
The mushroom hunters quietly creep.
With baskets ready, eyes keen and bright,
They tread softly in the fading light.
Each step a whisper, each breath a hush,
They guard their spots, each sacred bush.
For in these woods, where mushrooms hide,
Their treasured spots they won't confide.
They know the dance of sun and rain,
The alchemy that brings forth gain.
But to divulge their secret ground,
Would break the spell, the magic found.
So in the shadows, they'll remain,
Their hunting grounds a whispered refrain.
For in the silence of the trees,
Lies the mystery of morel pleas.
So let them wander, let them roam,
Their secrets kept, their hearts their home.
For in the hunt, there's more to find,
Than just the treasures of their kind.
You can validate your puzzle solution with
certitude.
