The Hadleigh branch stretched the 7 and 1/2 miles from Bentley (Junction) on the Great Eastern Main Line through to the market town on Hadleigh. never a roaring sucess this single track railway opened in 1847, with stations at Bentley Junction, Bentley Church, Capel St Mary, Raydon Wood and Hadleigh. The station at Bentley Church was short-lived and closed in 1854. Passenger services were withdrawn in 1932 but freight persisted to 1965. Raydon Wood had a large station building which is still in fairly good condition considering it closed in 1965.
This cache is a key sized bison and is placed near the old railway station, The station is not far away and it is still in relatively good condition considering it has been closed since 1965. Passenger services ceased in 1932. Car-parking is easy and at the start of the bridleway.
