Geocache Description:

  This is an easy cache to locate but needs some research to sign the log

TBs (Trackables, Travel Bugs & Geocoins) are a fun part of geocaching, but they are not very well understood by new geocachers so they often go missing. This cache is supposed to be a Safe House for TBs: similar to a TB Hotel but with an entry code that can only be found by reading the information on the Resident TB. The cache is at the posted coordinates and is reasonably big. To get to it, park just along the road on the verge at the given Parking coordinates and then look for the gap in the hedge about 30m south of the T junction which will get you into the woodland.  You don't need to climb up a bank or anything!

TBs are game pieces which move from Geocache to Geocache.  Most of them have a 'dog tag' with a TB code engraved on it, but there are all kinds of different Trackables, including car stickers and even tattoos. Many have a mission to fulfil, such as travelling to interesting places or visiting a specific country. TBs have two codes: one is the public code which you can see when you look at the cache page for the geocache which contains the TB, and the other is the secret code which is engraved on the TB. You can only find that secret code when you actually see the TB.  With that secret code you can:

  • Retrieve the TB - taking it with you for a few days before dropping it off in another geocache;
  • Discover the TB - saying that you saw it 'in the wild' but have left it in the cache for someone else to Retrieve;
  • Drop Off the TB - logging that you have dropped it into a geocache (or at an Event).

Please always log a Retrieve on TBs when you pick them up! These game pieces belong to someone, and have often been launched with love. Many geocachers are deeply saddened when their TBs are lost, usually because the TB has been dropped in a popular geocache and has been picked up by a muggle or a novice cacher.  Sadly, a lot of beginners think that TBs are just another form of 'swag' to be kept.

So, please log any TBs you find, have a look at where they have travelled (some of those I have found have travelled cache to cache for well over 100,000 miles), and see what their Mission is and whether you can help.

TO FIND OUT THE CODE FOR THE SAFE BOX, READ THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RESIDENT TB.  It should be pretty obvious which one it is when you click on the Trackables bit of the cache page.

Once you have found the cache please replace the inner container, close the outer container, and wrap it up securely so as to try to keep everything waterproof.  Thankyou!
