Waite Park is a city in Stearns County, Minnesota. Minnesota State Highway 23 and County 75 are two of the main routes in Waite Park. As of the census of 2010, there were 6,715 people, 3,127 households, and 1,538 families residing in the city.

History

Waite Park a city in section 17 of St. Cloud, containing the Great Northern Railway shops, which were built in 1890-91, was incorporated as a village March 20, 1893, being named in honor of Henry Chester Waite of St. Cloud. He was born in Rensselaerville, N.Y., June 30, 1830; was graduated at Union College, Schenectady, in 1851 and was admitted to practice law in 1853; came to Minnesota in 1855, settling in St. Cloud as its first lawyer; later engaged in banking, flour milling, and as a merchant; was register of the U.S. land office, 1865-69; was a member of the state constitutional convention, 1857, a representative in the legislature, 1863, and a state senator in 1870-71 and 1883-85; died on his farm near the city of St. Cloud, November 15, 1912. He owned flouring mills at Cold Spring and in Clearwater. The post office operated 1897-1972.  N 45° 45.649 W 094° 22.028
