An dieser Stelle befand sich früher die größte Sportanlage Neuhaus am Rennwegs. Der Rennsteigsportplatz war ein Fußball- und Leichtathletikplatz mit Aschebahn, Turnhalle und Kegelbahn. Neuhäuser Kinder durften hier in jedem Jahr am Sportfest Ihrer Schule teilnehmen.
Vor der politischen Wende in den Jahren 1989/1990 war der Sportplatz die Heimspielstätte der "BSG Röhrenwerk Neuhaus". Nach 1990 spielte hier der "WSV 1860 Neuhaus am Rennweg". Heute ist kaum noch zu erkennen, dass sich hier einmal ein Sportplatz befand. Der Nachfolgeverein, die "SG Lauscha/Neuhaus" spielt heute auf dem Sportplatz in Neuhaus-Igelshieb, und hat das Rennsteighaus als neues Vereinsheim gefunden.
Nun soll an dieser Stelle ein Geocache an die Zeit erinnern, als hier am Rennsteig noch Sport getrieben wurde. Behandelt die Dose bitte vorsichtig, und hängt sie am Ende wieder dorthin, wo ihr sie hergeholt habt. Ich hoffe sie bleibt in ihrer Form lange erhalten und erfreut kleine und große Geocacher, sowie Sportfreunde allen Alters.
The largest sports facility in Neuhaus am Rennweg used to be on this site. The Rennsteig sports ground was a soccer and athletics field with a cinder track, gymnasium and bowling alley. Children from Neuhaus were allowed to take part in their school's sports festival here every year.
Before the political change in 1989/1990, the sports ground was the home ground of the “BSG Röhrenwerk Neuhaus”. After 1990, the “WSV 1860 Neuhaus am Rennweg” played here. Today, it is barely recognizable that there was once a sports field here. The successor club, “SG Lauscha/Neuhaus”, now plays on the sports field in Neuhaus-Igelshieb and has found the Rennsteighaus as its new clubhouse.
Now there is a geocache here to remind us of the time when sport was still practiced here on the Rennsteig. Please handle the container with care and put it back where you found it at the end. I hope it will remain in its original form for a long time to come and will delight young and old geocachers and sports enthusiasts of all ages.
Na tomto místě se kdysi nacházelo největší sportovní zařízení v Neuhausu am Rennweg. Sportovní hřiště Rennsteig bylo fotbalové a atletické hřiště s asfaltovou dráhou, tělocvičnou a bowlingovou dráhou. Každý rok se zde děti z Neuhausu mohly účastnit školního sportovního festivalu.
Před politickými změnami v letech 1989/1990 bylo sportovní hřiště domovem „BSG Röhrenwerk Neuhaus“ (BSG Röhrenwerk Neuhaus). Po roce 1990 zde hrál „WSV 1860 Neuhaus am Rennweg“. Dnes je sotva postřehnutelné, že zde kdysi stálo sportovní hřiště. Nástupnický klub „SG Lauscha/Neuhaus“ nyní hraje na sportovním hřišti v Neuhaus-Igelshieb a jako svou novou klubovnu si našel Rennsteighaus.
Nyní zde bude umístěna geocache na památku doby, kdy se zde na Rennsteigu ještě sportovalo. Prosím, zacházejte s krabicí opatrně a vraťte ji tam, kde jste ji dostali. Doufám, že si dlouho zachová svůj původní tvar a bude těšit geocachery všech věkových kategorií, malé i velké, a také sportovní nadšence všech věkových kategorií.
