(PT) Muito próximo da Vila de Sintra, podemos encontrar o elegante Palácio de Seteais com vista para o Palácio da Pena e para o Castelo dos Mouros. Foi construído no século XVIII pelo cônsul holandês, Daniel Gildemeester, numa porção de terra cedida pelo Marquês de Pombal.
Segundo alguns, o nome Seteais deve-se às funções agrícolas da região, em particular, ao cultivo de centeio, pelo que, o local onde hoje está localizado o Palácio seria denominado Centeais. Outros afirmam que o nome deve-se ao eco produzido na serra, pois se passarmos pela estrada e gritarmos um “ai”, ele será reproduzido 7 vezes na serra.
Para além disso, o Palácio de Seteais está inevitavelmente ligado às muitas lendas que ainda hoje fazem parte da mística que envolve a Serra de Sintra...neste caso a lenda dos Sete Ais.

(EN) Near Sintra, we can find the beautiful Seteais Palace, where we can also observe the National Palace of Pena and the Mourish Castle. It was built in the 18th century by the Dutch consul, Daniel Gildemeester, on a portion of land granted by the Marquis of Pombal.
Some people believe that its name comes from the tradition of shouting “ai” on the road where its echo is repeated 7 times. On the other hand, a very old manuscript by an anonymous author kept in Sintra library mentions that the origin of the word of Seteais derives from the land named Centeais where rye (Portuguese: Centeio) was being cultivated.
Furthermore, the Seteais Palace is inevitably linked to the many legends that are still part of the mystique that surrounds Sintra ... in this case the legend of the Sete Ais.
