Barnesfield Park is a large public park that is located just south of the Harry Nice Bridge in King George and contains many sports fields, exercise trails, and picnic areas along with a playground. The area is a great place to have an afternoon lunch or play a game of horseshoe. At this location learn about some of the common ways that Native American communities formed relationships with one another. The park is located at 3360 Barnesfield Road, and it is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and remains open all year.
There is another interesting location near the park that is also available to visit. Dahlgren Heritage Museum, which has one of seven signs that tell the story on the Native American Heritage Trail, exhibits many fascinating facts about the community’s origins and US Navy history. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.
NOTE King George County has permission to place this geocache. There is very little signal available in this park, so coordinates may not appear accurate.
