Welcome to Restland Memorial Park. Our story began sometime in August 2017. I had created a geocaching account less than year before, but had around 50 finds. During the summer break I brought it up while getting dinner with my friend from high school, Jake. He thought it sounded cool and we looked for a cache near Spring Creek & Alma in Plano. I first met Jake my freshman year of high school in theatre class, but I didn't really talk much to him. I was being bullied in that class (which sounds very comical to type) and I think he was too cautious to stick up for me in front of everyone. In 10th grade we embarked upon an adventure with some mutal friends to explore the nearby Wallmart after a half day of finals, which was a lot cooler when we were 14 than it would be today. I thought it was neat that I made friends with a guy and didn't have to rely on talking about sports.
Anyway back to 2017. We journeyed to GC23T0H, a Techiegirl64 cache (its been archived but I'm unsure if it was ever removed). My log was really brief! We signed the log and Jake insisted we hide a cache right next to it. I tried to tell him caches had to be 525 feet apart, but he insisted I submit it anyway. I didnt, and I think I saw Jake one more time before his death in a large scale car wreck up in Oklahoma our senior year of college. Despite being one of his closest remaining high school friends, his mother did not invite me to his funeral! It took me about 15 minutes of searching to find Jake's tombstone. To get the coordinates for the final, please answer this question-
When facing Jake's grave, is there a tree to your Left or right?
Left- N 32° 55.311 W 96° 44.838
Right- N 32° 54.319 W 96° 44.425
The final is still in the cemetery but a short drive away. I reserve the right to delete any online log based on integrity and am not forcing you to submit to risk and find this cache. Take the time to hunt a cache and reflect on the temporary splendor of life.
