Geocache Description:

The Yelarbon Railway Station, on the old Warwick to Dirranbandi line, is no longer in service.

The town is located on a branch of the narrow gauge South Western railway line; it is also proposed to be located on a section of the standard gauge Inland Railway from Moree via North Star.

No railway buildings are left on the railway line; however the railway station has been moved to the nearby recreation and camping reserve for the use of an amenities block (see waypoint)

The weighbridge office where you are standing now, was formerly owned by Queensland Rail to weigh goods and produce being carried to and from Yelarbon Station, and later owned by the Yelarbon Sawmill.

The picnic area is a viewing point for the Yelarbon Painted Silos, located across the highway and railway line.

The cache is hidden close to, but not in the railway corridor at this location. There is no need to enter the rail corridor.

PLEASE BE AWARE that this railway line is still operational, and that you may encounter grain trains, and the occasional steam train.
