Calling all explorers with a penchant for the past! We're venturing into the heart of Shanghai's historic French Concession. This luxurious haven holds a rich past, once known as the Morris Garden. Built in 1917, it was the prestigious home of the Morris family, English proprietors of the North China Daily News (China's first English newspaper!) and the famous Canidrome dog racing track.
The estate boasts the former French Concession's likely largest garden, a tranquil oasis amidst the bustling city. Henry E. Morris, the newspaper's owner, resided here until 1951, leaving behind a legacy woven into the very fabric of the buildings.
Transformed into the Ruijin Hotel in 1979, it became a prestigious state guest house for prominent political figures, both national and international. This role continued until 2012 when the property joined forces with a large Hotel Group, under whose management it is currenlty owned.
