Nishi-Ogawa Signal Station was once a signal station on the Seibu Railway Haijima Line.
The Haijima Line used to be a single-track line, but when the line was double-tracked after the war, the construction between Ogawa Station and Tamagawa-josui Station, which had not been double-tracked until the end, could not be completed all at once, and part of the line from Ogawa Station remained single-track for only four years.
For this reason, a signal station was installed as a facility to switch from single-track to underground lines. This is the Nishi-Ogawa Signal Station.
It was removed when the east section was converted to double track, and there are no traces of it left today.
Aerial photographs taken at that time show that the track width was wide on the west side and narrow on the east side. What looks vaguely like a diagonal track can also be seen.
The cache was placed near the sidewalk by the tracks at the location where the West Ogawa Signal Station is believed to have been.
This sidewalk is now named "Four Seasons Path".

西小川信号所は、かつて西武鉄道拝島線の信号場です。
かつて拝島線は単線でしたが、戦後複線化が行われた際に、最後まで複線化がされなかった小川駅、玉川上水駅間の工事が一気にできずに４年間だけ小川駅からの一部が単線で残っていました。
このため単線から伏線に切り替えを行うための設備として信号所が設置されました。これが西小川信号所です。
東側区間が複線化するとともに撤去されてしまい、現在痕跡は何もありません。
当時の航空写真を見ると、西側は線路幅が広く東側は狭いことがわかります。ぼんやりと斜めの線路らしきものも確認できます。
キャッシュは、西小川信号所があったとされる場所の、線路わきの歩道近くに設置しました。
現在この歩道は、「四季の小路」と名前が付けられています。
