Geocache Description:

The NATO phonetic alphabet, also known as the International Radio-Telephony Spelling Alphabet, is a universal phonetic alphabet that assigns a word to each letter of the alphabet. It's used to prevent miscommunication and spelling mistakes, especially when people from different countries with different accents and pronunciations are working together. The alphabet became effective in 1956 and is now used for all military, civilian, and amateur radio communications.

The NATO phonetic alphabet is useful to prevent spelling mistakes or miscommunication, especially when people from different countries with different accents and pronunciations work together.

The NATO alphabet became effective in 1956 and, a few years later, turned into the established universal phonetic alphabet for all military, civilian and amateur radio communications. It assigns a word to each letter so that a letter's name begins with the letter itself. International Morse Code.

Numbers are pronounced as normal, except often 9 is pronounced "Niner" so it doesn't get confused with 5.
