Geocache Description:

This is a replacement cache for the old Berkley History cache in Dighton Rock State Park, allowing our caching friends another opportunity to return to the location for another mystery cache find.

N 41° 48.ABC W 071° 06.[D+2]EF

The present town of Berkley, then belonging to the neighboring towns of Dighton and Taunton, was first settled in 163F.

It was officially incorporated as a separate town in 1A35.

The town was named for the philosopher and bishop George Berkeley, who was born in 16B5 and who lived in Newport, Rhode Island from 1728 to 173C.

Berkley's old Town Hall, a two-story white clapboard building located on Berkley Common, was built in 18D9.

When a new Town Hall was built across the street in 2E15, the old Town Hall became home to the Berkley Historical Society.

The final cache is a winter-friendly bison tube. Please note that the gate for the park closes daily at 4 P.M. Hope you enjoy.
