The Damon Memorial Cache 2 can be found inside the Damon Memorial Park. This small memorial park itself is a hidden treasure. Clarence and Anna Goodrich were among Soldotna's pioneer homesteading families. They worked hard for the progress and success of the city of Soldotna. They left their fingerprints on our town through their work on roads, neighborhoods, parks, the ball field, the airport, the hospital, and the college. The plaque on the rock inside the park reads, "This 160 acre parcel on Community College Drive was donated to the University of Alaska by Clarence and Anna Goodrich in Memory of their daughter Frances Helen Damon and grandson Lawrence E. Damon who were killed in the 1964 Tidal Wave resulting from the Good Friday earthquake at Whittier, Alaska." This geocache was placed by the great-great-granddaughters of Clarence and Anna Goodrich with the permission of Kenai Peninsula College and the Damon Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The previous cache, archived a few years ago, has been replaced with this new cache for the 60th anniversary of the great earthquake. A magnet holds the cache in place. There is room for some small swag. Cache in, trash out.
