This Trig Pillar overlooks the massive works taking place to upgrade the old A30 to a new fast dual carriageway.
Even though the trig pillar is on Open Access Land, at the present time (April 2024), access to the pillar itself is compromised by the roadworks and associated plant access points, construction vehicle parking areas and material storage yards.
In order to enable this pillar to be part of the new YOSM release later this month, it was decided to hide a cache on a neaby country lane where there is line of sight to the pillar which is at N50 20.609 W005 02.015
From the cache GZ, the pillar is clearly visible on top of the hedge on the high ground across the field.
Please do not try to access the pillar from the cache location - the land is private farmland.
Hopefully, when the A30 roadworks are completed, access to the pillar will be possible and the cache can be moved close by.
In the meantime, the view shown in the image below is the best that can be achieved:
The cache is a good-sized regular container with room for swaps and TBs.
