My grandfather, Fred Charles Hewitt, was the superintendent of this fish hatchery 1930-1953. My dad, Robert Hewitt, his parents Fred & Thyra Waneta (Olen) & his siblings lived on this property. My dad was born at this hatchery.
Prior to 1930, my grandfather and his family were employed as a foreman or Superintendent, and resided at state hatcheries in Wild Rose, Woodruff, and Bayfield, WI.
