Dear cachers,
Yesterday I went to place a cache in the SW part of Hamlin Park. I looked for a stump, of course. Not many stumps there, and they typically were too close to other caches or had bumblebee nests in them. I finally found a fragile stump skeleton and decided to use it as a test. There was a large variation in coordinate readings with two devices over more than 30 minutes. West is good; however, North decimal minutes varied from 773 to 783, so I listed it with a grand average of all of my readings.
The tests are, first, (and obviously) if you can find it using spoiler photos with directions. Secondly, it is testing the durability of a cache in this portion of the park.
If things work well, something better may be placed in this area in the future.
Photo 1 below: As you approach the correct area, you should find the pictured fallen log with moss. Beyond the clear area, you will see a huge cedar, as in photo. Walk to and go behind the cedar tree - on the down slope side. Then refer to next photo and set of directions.

Photo 2 below: Standing behind the cedar tree, you will see this small fir tree. Now go about 20 feet south to the area of the blue arrow to find the skeleton stump. Remove and replace the camouflage gently and avoid touching the outer, fragile, parts of the stump.
