The Mill Mountain Incline was a funicular railway operated from August 10, 1910 to 1929 and cost $40,000 to complete. It had two counter balanced rail cars and took 4 minutes to ascend the mountain. A trip cost $.25.
When you find this geocache you will be standing in the middle of the incline's path. You'll notice the rip rap below your feet and when looking straight down the mountain you'll notice the ground is shaped and graded. Most people mistake the location of the incline as being under the powerline clearing.
The incline made a profit its first year of operation but sustained heavy losses until sold by its 25 investors to William Henritze in 1919. William built the toll road in 1920 which sealed the fate of the incline. It seized operations in 1929.
