Geocache Description:

Welcome to State Game Lands 224. This sections is a relatively recent additon to the SGL, sometime around 2015 I believe. It is not shown on many maps still. A major reason the state acquired this land from private mine ownership is for bat habitat protection. A major entrance, and smaller ones, into the old Glen Lyon mine is located on this property. It has become a bat hibernaculum and is now heavily fenced off. Check the cache waypoints for the location!

Another feature of this property is a cliff / ridgeline known as Squirrel Rock which is a popular area for bouldering and rock climbing. You will see chalk marks indicating the many climbing routes. The cache is located at the far side of this climbing area. I planned to hide it deeper into the woods but a major thunderstorm was rolling in. I hope it lasts in this location.

Rules of the cache:

  1. You must physically sign the log book or your Found It log will be deleted.
  2. Stay off of provate property.
  3. Do not interfere with anything at the bat hibernaclulum.
  4. Re-hide the container as it was found & so muggles cannot easiy spot it.

Other comments:

  • Container is an ammo can stocked with pens, please take one!
  • Bring a grocery or trash bad to help cleanup. The climbing ares is kept nice but other parts of the property, not so much.
  • There is a well trodden path to GZ but I am not giving that info up :)
