We moved to New Westminster in Jan 2024 and wanted to hide a cache in our new neighborhood. This is our first in the area, so we tried to make it easy. nothing too fancy... yet. May need a tweezer.
History: The park site originally belonged to a couple, Samuel Buchanan and his wife, Sadie. Samuel made his career in real estate, and built a beautiful estate here in 1912. He donated the home and land to the Salvation Army in 1946 due to the kindness shown by a Salvation Army minister to his wife during her illness before her death. It was used as a retirement home first, and later a multi-level care facility "Buchanan Memorial Sunset Lodge" was developed, which the name of the park was taken from. When the existing Salvation Army Buchanan Lodge opened in 1997, the park was transferred to the city's owner ship.
