Geocache Description:


The township was proclaimed on 4 March 1942 by the Transvaal Province Provincial Administration & was the first housing suburb to be developed by the Vereeniging Town Council. 

This Geocache leads you to the doorstep of the Pretorius family, the property was bought from Mr G v.d Merwe in 1962. 

When the house was built in 1954, the street name was fifth avenue but was later changed as a tribute to the first state president of South Africa.

The house has been part of the family for 62 years, the two eldest children (Both deceased) was born in the house and the father passed away in the same house in 1984, he grew up across the street were his family used to live in number 35.

This geocache is a tribute to P.D Pretorius (Snr & Jnr), AG Pretorius, J.C.S.A.R Pretorius and C.G.C.E Pretorius
