La tonda de n'Aguae (Il giro di Aguai)
Arrivati ormai all’ultima tappa del nostro viaggio, da qui la stretta strada asfaltata ci riporterà al parcheggio. Questo è un luogo sacro e gli abitanti d'Aguai vi sono estremamente legati, è quindi importante portare rispetto per questo luogo di culto.
La chiesa
La chiesetta di Aguai, per i locali “la gesa”o "la gesota (de n'Aguae)", è situata lungo il vecchio sentiero che conduceva al passo San Lugano. Vide la luce nel 1899 per volontà di Orsola Guadagnini, su un terreno acquistato da lei stessa, il suo progetto fu affidato al geometra Federico Tommasi di Carano, sindaco del matto paese per vent'anni. Sebbene la sua costruzione sia stata completata nell'aprile 1990, la sua struttura di base risale a prima del documento di fondazione, redatto nel novembre 1899. Orsola Guadagnini si occupò non solo della realizzazione della chiesetta, ma anche delle spese per la sua manutenzione fino alla sua morte il 7 agosto 1990. Consacrata alla Madonna Addolorata, ricevette la benedizione il 6 maggio 1990 da Don Luigi Bolner, decano di Cavalese. Il campanile, di dimensioni modeste, fu aggiunto nel 1977 grazie ai finanziamenti della comunità locale. La cella campanaria, su due livelli, è illuminata su ogni lato da finestre rettangolari ed è coronata da una copertura a piramide. All'interno si trovano tre campane, la più grande delle quali (38 kg) fu donata alla chiesetta nel 1977 dalle Famiglie Ansoldi e Vecelli, frequentatori affezionati di Aguai durante le vacanze estive. Grazie all'impegno, alla generosità e all'amore della comunità di Aguai per la loro chiesetta, questa fu restaurata fra il 1970 e il 1983, ottenendo l'aspetto decoroso che presenta oggi.
L'edificio presenta una facciata a due spioventi, delimitata da due lesene laterali, con una cornice ad archetti pensili sotto il tetto. Al centro si trovano un portale gotico e un oculo circolare. L'interno, a navata unica, è diviso in due campate da coppie di semicolonne, con un arco santo gotico che introduce al presbiterio orientato a nord-est, rialzato su un gradino, e che termina in un'abside poligonale. Sul retro, dei gradini permettono l’accesso all’antica struttura, questi però non sono di semplice pietra vengono rinforzati da un qualcosa di ben più resistente, quasi magico e segreto.
Se portando rispetto potrete vedere dal vivo la chiesa sopra descritta, gli abitanti d’Aguai ne vanno estremamente fieri e saranno felici di mostrarvela. Ricordate però che è un luogo sacro ed è quindi importante rispettarlo.
Attenzione!! In montagna una regola non scritta sovrasta tutte le altre: rispettate questi luoghi, lasciate pulito ed in ordine; idealmente in condizioni migliori di come li trovate. Rispettando quest'unico principio tutti potranno godere delle meraviglie di questi ambienti e non vi sarà luogo sulle Alpi dove non sarete ben accetti.

Having reached the last stage of our journey, from here the narrow asphalt road will take us back to the car park. This is a sacred place and the people of Aguai are extremely attached to it, so it is important to show respect for this place of worship.
The church
The little church of Aguai, known to the locals as 'la gesa' or 'la gesota (de n'Aguae)', is located along the old path leading to the San Lugano pass. It saw the light of day in 1899 at the behest of Orsola Guadagnini, on land purchased by her, and its design was entrusted to the surveyor Federico Tommasi di Carano, mayor of the mad village for twenty years. Although its construction was completed in April 1990, its basic structure dates back to before the foundation document, drawn up in November 1899. Orsola Guadagnini was responsible not only for the construction of the little church, but also for its maintenance until her death on 7 August 1990. Consecrated to Our Lady of Sorrows, it was blessed on 6 May 1990 by Don Luigi Bolner, dean of Cavalese. The bell tower, of modest dimensions, was added in 1977 thanks to funding from the local community. The belfry, on two levels, is lit on each side by rectangular windows and is crowned by a pyramid roof. Inside are three bells, the largest of which (38 kg) was donated to the church in 1977 by the Ansoldi and Vecelli families, affectionate visitors to Aguai during the summer holidays. Thanks to the commitment, generosity and love of the community of Aguai for their little church, it was restored between 1970 and 1983, achieving the decent appearance it has today.
The building has a double-sloping façade, bordered by two side pilasters, with a cornice of hanging arches under the roof. In the centre is a Gothic portal and a circular oculus. The interior, with a single nave, is divided into two bays by pairs of half-columns, with a Gothic holy arch leading to the presbytery facing north-east, raised on a step, and ending in a polygonal apse. At the back, steps allow access to the ancient structure, but these are not made of simple stone, they are reinforced by something much stronger, almost magical and secret.
If you show respect, you will be able to see the church described above in person, the people of Aguai are extremely proud of it and will be happy to show it to you. Remember, however, that it is a sacred place and it is therefore important to respect it.
Warning!! In the mountains, one unwritten rule overrides all others: respect these places, leave them clean and tidy; ideally in better condition than you find them. By respecting this one principle everyone will be able to enjoy the wonders of these environments and there will be no place in the Alps where you will not be welcome.
