Cascata do Lombinho/ Lombinho Watterfall
A Cascata do Lombinho situa-se no sítio do Lombinho, na Ribeira da Janela. Esta cascata apresenta-se com uma engraçada particularidade, principalmente devido à formação geomorfológica. Devido ao “alpendre” natural de basalto sobre a estrada, a água cai já fora desta, rumando à ribeira da Ribeira da Janela. O caudal da cascata é bastante varável, conforme a precipitação.
The Lombinho Waterfall is located on the Lombinho site, in Ribeira da Janela. This waterfall has a funny peculiarity, mainly due to the geomorphological formation. Due to the natural basalt “porch” over the road, the water falls outside the road, heading towards the Ribeira da Janela stream. The flow of the waterfall is quite variable, depending on the precipitation.

Esta cache pretende georreferenciar uma das magníficas belezas naturais do Porto Moniz. Aproveite a visita e siga até ao final da estrada. Apesar da sinuosidade, o percurso recompensa com excelentes vistas sobre o vale e a ribeira da Ribeira da Janela, a paisagem envolvente e os tradicionais poios cultivados pelas gentes locais.
Atenção: a visita é desaconselhada em dias de chuva moderada/forte ou vento intenso, devido ao risco de derrocadas e à frequente queda de pequenas pedras, potencialmente perigosas. Visite o local com prudência.
A cache encontra-se numa queda de água, pelo que é provável que não saia seco da procura. Um casaco impermeável pode ser útil. Consulte também a imagem spoiler, pois a vegetação e a queda de água poderão dificultar a busca.
This cache aims to georeference one of the magnificent natural beauties of Porto Moniz. Take the opportunity to visit the area and continue to the end of the road. Despite its winding nature, the route rewards visitors with excellent views over the valley and stream of Ribeira da Janela, the surrounding landscape, and the traditional terraced fields cultivated by the local people.
Warning: visiting this cache is not recommended during moderate/heavy rain or strong wind, due to the risk of landslides and the frequent fall of small rocks, which may be dangerous. Please visit the area with caution.
The cache is located beside a waterfall, so it is quite likely that you will not stay dry during the search. A waterproof jacket may be useful. Also check the spoiler image, as the vegetation and the waterfall itself may make the search more difficult.
