This geocache was placed for the Caledonian Cachefest.
When does new become old and old become new? This is something that puzzles people all the time and there is a reason for asking.
This cache is hidden on New Bridge. New Bridge is the old bridge and the new bridge is not New Bridge. At some point New Bridge must have been the new bridge in order to get it's name but nobody seems to know when New Bridge was actually built and what happened to the old bridge.
New bridge now carries only the footpath across the River Annan, with Annan Bridge (the new bridge) carrying traffic. New Bridge is a listed building (Cat C) so wil hopefully remain an old bridge for many years to come.
Two little know facts about New Bridge are that its official name is "New Bridge (Formerly A701 Over River Annan)" and on the bridge you can find Bench Mark 0475.
