This cache has been placed as part of the Moffat to Leadhills (M2L) series for the Caledonian Cachefest.
The Blacklaw wood sits on the top and side of the hills overlooking both the Moffat hills and overlooking the M74, part of the Clyde windfarm and has views to Queensbury hill. It is very exposed on the higher ground and only one track runs from the B719 Greenhillstairs road down towards the M74. The wood has areas of new trees and areas of more mature trees. The biodiversity is not as obvious as in other woods in the area. The views are worth the visit. Opposite the entrance is a Roman road.
