Geocache Description:

The original Cheese Series had one hide for a cheese starting with each letter of the alphabet according to The Oxford Companion of Cheese.  The second series pays homage to Monty Python’s 1972 sketch “The Cheese Shop”. In this sketch, John Cleese plays Mr. Mousebender who enters a cheese shop – Ye Olde Cheese Emporium – to negotiate “the vending of some cheesy comestibles”.  He is met by the cheesemonger, Mr. Wensleydale and a bazouki band and there is no cheese visible in the shop.  He asks about a total of 42 cheeses with responses ranging from a simple “no”, to “the van broke down”, “never at the end of the week”, and “the cat’s eaten it”. One final desperate query reveals that the cheese shop has no cheese at all and results in the exasperated Mr. Mousebender drawing a pistol and shooting Mr. Wensleydale in the head.

Venezuelan Beaver Cheese is the only ficitional cheese of the 42 cheeses recited by John Cleese in the skit, in a moment of particular frustration at the lack of "fermented curd" available in the supposed cheese shop.  It perhaps begs belief as to what such a cheese might look and taste like, but with the said species being quite available in Canada perhaps some creative cheesemaker will take a crack at it.

This cache is placed for SCAR2024 and should not be sought before May 24, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. or you may be haunted by the spirits of Venezuelan beavers.
