Michigan State Parks GeoTour - (MSPGT2):
The geocache which you are about to seek is one of fifteen geocaches that are each a part of one of the three separate GeoTours making up the Michigan State Parks GeoTour, or MSPGT2 for short. MSPGT2 and each of its three GeoTours have a beautiful multi-part geocoin for you to earn. To qualify, you will need to download and print the Michigan State Parks GeoTours OFFICIAL LOGBOOK and follow the instructions on it. See the Resources section below for information.
Cache Details:
Welcome to Milliken State Park and Harbor. The park and harbor run nearly .5 mile along the Detroit River. The park is a re-creation of the wetlands that made up most of the citiy's waterfront when the French first landed here. Today you can see an example of these wetlands while strolling the paved pathways.
This geocache will be mostly on the paved trails until the final container which has a green path to reach it. Please respect the park by always using these pathways.
Now that you are at the posted coordinates, behind you is a part of the Detroit Riverwalk and Rivard Park (or Detroit Riverwalk Park) and in front of you is a kiosk with a sign describing the wetlands here. The Kiosk also includes a map of the park. Use the information from this kiosk to do a small field puzzle that will take you to the final cache.
1. For the north coordinate you will fill in the blank with the last number in the date found on the photo that starts with the statement The view from where you are now… N 42 19.8_4
2. For the west coordinate you will fill in the last three digits of W 083 01._ _ _ :
2a. How many photographs are in the first (left) sign panel?
2b. What is the third digit in the map date on the third (right) panel?
2c. How many beavers are in pictured in all three panels?
The checksum for the four digits is 16. If you think you have the answer, go find the final. Remember, stay on the trails!
Your geocacher name on the logbook is required to claim a find. Don't forget to record the Codeword on your OFFICIAL LOGBOOK. Please return everything as good or better than you found it. Please report problems in your log and send a message to MSPGT2. Our hiders do not see message traffic. If you need to contact the hider, their geocacher name is in the Information section below.

Milliken State Park and Harbor
William G. Milliken State Park and Harbor is located in the heart of Detroit, just east of downtown, along a portion of the city’s Detroit Riverwalk, which provides easy access for fishing, biking, walking and rollerblading.
The park is divided into three areas, including the harbor, the picnic shelter area and the popular berm area. Thanks to recent renovations, the berm now boasts an accessible walkway, handrails and new trees, shrubs and grass. The berm area is especially popular for picnics and wildlife viewing.

Activity: Accessibility - EnChroma viewers
Two EnChroma viewers can be found at the top of the hill in Milliken State Park and Harbor in Detroit. The hill offers accessible pathways that also helps protect the soil from future erosion issues. These viewers, courtesy of the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge and EnChroma, enable visitors to view the river and our neighbors in Canada.

MSPGT2 - Southern Lower Peninsula Edition
Michigan’s Southern Lower Peninsula is a hub for outdoor adventure, with state parks, trails, and waterways that showcase the region’s natural beauty and diverse landscapes. From sandy beaches along the shores of Lake Michigan to serene inland lakes and winding rivers, there’s something for everyone to explore.
State parks like Holland, Muskegon, and Grand Haven offer stunning stretches of Lake Michigan shoreline perfect for swimming, picnicking, and catching sunsets. Inland, Yankee Springs Recreation Area features miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, fishing spots, and campsites. Waterloo and Pinckney Recreation Areas are favorites for backpackers and kayakers, with scenic routes like the Potawatomi Trail and waterways like the Huron River.
For paddlers, the Grand, Kalamazoo, and St. Joseph Rivers provide calm waters ideal for kayaking and canoeing. Fishing enthusiasts will find plentiful opportunities in the area’s lakes and streams. Trails such as the Kal-Haven and Mike Levine Lakelands Trail cater to cyclists, runners, and walkers, weaving through picturesque countryside and historic towns.
In winter, these trails transform into snowshoeing and cross-country skiing destinations, while parks like Fort Custer provide winter hiking and fat-tire biking options.
With its blend of rolling hills, forests, wetlands, and shorelines, Michigan’s Southern Lower Peninsula offers a diverse outdoor playground. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or family fun, the region’s state parks, trails, and waterways promise an unforgettable experience.
