O'Keefe Rail Trail - ORT
This cache has been hidden as part of a rejuvination of the caches along the O'Keefe Rail Trail. The original series were placed by Whits Wanderers and then ably cared for by Friends of the Trail and jtnsilo. This one is part of a handful of new caches I am placing to fill in some gaps left along the trail by the original series.
The Rail Trail now extends from Bendigo to Heathcote and includes excellent infrastructure and facilities. For more information and updates check out https://www.bendigoregion.com.au/explore-bendigo/okeefe-rail-trail.
The Rail Trail is a great location to walk, run, ride or just enjoy getting outside and into nature. So head out and get some exercise while you have fun finding caches. This series is designed for cachers of all ages to explore by foot, get on their bike, or ride a horse on the O’Keefe Rail Trail !
You will find a plaque close to the posted coordinates, which commemorates the opening of this section of the rail trail in March 1999. To find the coordinates of this cache you will identify some letters from the plaque, then use a common letters to numbers code to convert them to numerals.
The coordinates are:
S 36 46.ABC
E 144 20.DE(F-G)
Where :
A = 19th letter on line 5
B = 14th letter on line 2
C = 25th letter on line 3
D = 35th letter on line 6
E = 14th letter on line 1
F = 26th letter on line 9
G = 12th letter on line 4
Checksums: (add up the digits for each coordinate) South = 36 East = 22
Although its a micro in the bush, this one shouldnt be too hard to find, I hope you enjoy it and the rest of the Rail Trail Series.
