Geocache Description:

Crandell Park is the newest gem in Eaton County's park system.  Over the past few years several improvements have been made at the park including the boat launch, exercise equipment, and the wide, graded trail.  This park has a lot of space for additional caches.  It is also a birding hotspot. Although I did not note any nearby poison ivy, I'm not going to say it wasn't there.  In the spring, I do love the nearby trout lilies, so try to be gentle while you are off the trail.  This cache is located near a trail through the woods.

The Downy Woodpecker is a common woodpecker in Michigan.  It will come to suet feeders.  My Mom kept a note at the window overlooking the walnut tree that held many of our birdfeeders.  This note listed the primary difference between the Hairy Woodpecker and the Downy Woodpecker.  After reading this note for years, I can confidently state that the Downy Woodpecker is smaller than the Hairy Woodpecker.  Otherwise, they are very similar in appearance.

This cache could be hidden in a woodpecker hole and is a little smaller than my nearby Hairy Woodpecker cache.
