National Tree Day 2024 - Rosenthal Native Grassland Reserve, Sunbury

Join us for a fantastic opportunity to assist Hume City Council at their community planting event on National Tree Day in Sunbury.

This area is particularly important as a pair of Black-shouldered Kite nest in the trees near this native reserve. These beautiful birds are called Thara in the Woiwurung language of the Wurundjeri people, in the Kulin Nation. Your participation will help enrich the natural environment for Thara (Black-shouldered Kite).

Time: 10:00am - 11:30am - Welcome, briefing and planting.

What's provided:

  • Plants, tools, gloves and sunscreen provided
  • Drinking water, tea and coffee
  • Portable toilet on site

What to bring:

  • Wear appropriate clothing/footwear
  • BYO drink bottle

Optional (if you would like to stay longer):

  • 12:00pm: Hume City Council have arranged for a family-friendly native wildlife display by WildlifeXposure in the adjacent Park
  • 12:30pm: Pizzas provided for the planting volunteers. (Pizza flavour selection during registration on arrival for planting - Gluten free option available)

In addition to your “will attend” please register through the Hume City Council's website. Link here: National Tree Day Registration

The Hume City Council asks that you please leave your dogs at home for this event. (Assistance dogs excepted)
