Geocache Description:

This is placed on the Severn Way footpath, a 224 mile (360km) footpath from the source of the river to the Estuary.

This is the approxomate site of the "barge gutter", a cut through the field and now a public footpath. It used to be used to pull barges or trows upstream past fishing nets and latterly GZ was a building, possibly a yard to fix barges or a pub to quench the thirst of the men hauling them upstream! All that remains is rubble in the trees.

The cache is placed at a height which will not be affected by flooding.

This section WILL flood, please check flood warnings, and if you see the river is in flood on aproach, leave it for another day!

Flood warnings!
