NYS Parks Recreation and Historical Preservation is celebrating the 100 th anniversary of the
founding of the state park and historical system this year! There is no better time to visit and explore
Bowman Lake and the many other awesome locations in NYS. We hope you enjoy the beauty of this
park located in the Central Region. Bowman Lake was established in the 1960’s containing campsites, a
beach, picnic tables, a boat launch and trails on 653 acres making it one of the largest campgrounds in
Central New York. Some of the trails can be muddy after a rain and be sure to use plenty of bug spray to
protect you from ticks, black flies and other insects. Cell phone service can be spotty so be sure to load
data off line or use a GPS. This traditional cache could be in a high muggle area at times so please be
cautious and respect other people enjoying the park. The stamp is not swag so please do not take.
Replace cache as found or better if camouflage is missing. The area could be muddy after rain and have
plant life that could poke or scratch so appropriate footwear and long pants are recommended.
This Cache is placed as part of the 2024 New York State Park Central Region Geocache Challenge. There are approximately 80 geocaches hidden within 22 state parks and historic sites in this parks region, the first 150 people to find 45 or more caches will receive a special geocache challenge coin. NYS Parks Saratoga - Capital region and the Taconic region will be hosting a similar challenge!! 10 caches found in the Sara-Cap and/or Taconic region Challenge can be used toward the Central Challenge.
