My mom said I watch too much TV. My mind will rot. I'll never learn anything. Well, I'm here to tell ya, if you can make me laugh, I'll pay attention. I may even learn something in the process. Example - There's a silly streaming TV series called "Letterkenny." An opening scene shows three fellas sitting on the porch and talking about various world problems. The conversation shifts to Roberta Bondar.
Who is she? Not just a scientist or astronomer, Dr. Bondar is celebrated and cherished as Canada's first female astronaut, and the first neurologist ever in space. From January 22-30, 1992, Bondar joined a team of astronauts and flew 129 times around the earth in STS-42 Space Shuttle Discovery. While the story the Letterkenny guys tell is absolutely ridiculous, the fact remains - Roberta Bondar is a class act.
Mrs. iowaPete and I took a trip into Ontario in 2022 and we sought out Bondar's statue in Sault Ste. Marie (Yes, there's a geocache there. See Astronaut's Dilemma). While describing Bondar's CV to Mrs. iP, I elaborated that she is also a professional nature photographer. Her main focus is on the endangered whooping crane and the flamingo. At 74 years of age, she could settle into a comfortable retirement, but she has no interest in slowing down anytime soon!

There is a $2 day fee charged for all users of the Heritage Trail. Considering all the fun you'll be having, it's a pretty cost-effective way to spend the day. The $$ go right back into trail maintenance, so your visit will help keep the Heritage Trail in good shape for years to come!
All the containers are the same size and color. If you look for a cache and can't locate it, please record the DNF and I'll be out to check on it as quick as I can. Throwdowns are HIGHLY DISCOURAGED.
