Geocache Description:

Charlottenburg Park

St Lawrence Parks had 2 campsites in this area, and later added a 3rd. Charlottenburg Park and Glengarry Park are still open. Raisin River Park was closed in 1991 due to government cutbacks. Where you are standing, is the old entrance road to Charlottenburg Park. This road was used from the 60’s till 1990. Due to government cutbacks, this park was closed. About 10 years later, the park land was leased to the RRCA who cleaned up the breach, and installed a new entrance, and reopen the beach to the public around 2000. It was offered for free for the first year. Over the next few years the beach was improved with many additions, and the campsite area was cleaned and repaired for use. Nature trails were also added, and offer many great scenery, and a viewing deck as well.
