Y Morfa Wetlands is an 11ha semi-natural habitat which was opened in March 2020 and provides a valuable green leisure space for everyone to enjoy. Wetlands are a critical part of our natural environment providing valuable habitat and food for local wildlife, flood storage and improved water quality. They also provide valuable feeding and nesting habitats for summer bird visitors.
After signing the cache, and if you have time, why not check out the other 2 interpretative panels which have been placed on the site, use the QR codes provided for additional information and see if you can spot any of the plants and wildlife mentioned on them. Take a seat on one of the new benches and see if you can see or hear any of the birds.
This cache has disguised itself and can be completed as a quick cache and dash, as there is normally space to park on the main road by the monument, or you can take advantage of parking at the start of the Wetlands in Johnstown, town or supermarket car park and try and find the other caches in the area.
You will need to bring your own scribbling tool and you may find tweezers handy. Don’t forget to sign the log. Stealth may be required as this is a popular area for dog walkers, runners and nature lovers
