You are looking for a camouflaged nano. This is accessible to all. It is child, dog, stroller, you name it friendly, and you can sit in the shade and relax on benches if you are troubled by excess people when you arrive. Whilst well-lit at all times its normally quiet though.
Located on Mercator Lane (a note on this later), the cache is in the vicinity of a large aluminium sculpture. This cache is at the site of the old Wembley Trade School, and a strong symbol of the technical education and trades skills taught on this site from 1947-2014.
Set up shortly after the war to expand trade and technical training in Perth and Western Australia, the school had a strong focus on metal work including foundry techniques, fitting and turning and metal machining. It is apt that a precision tool such as a compass is associated with the site to commemorate it. There is another angle (no pun intended) here as it may be there due to the cartographic influence noted by some street names in the development.
It is worth noting that whilst the site now serves as residential, it was prior to the construction of the school serving barrack accommodation purposes as well (albeit temporarily) in relation to R.A.A.F service personnel departing for overseas duty during the War.
Abundant information is available online and within the Cambridge Library online should you wish to know more. This is part of the “Follow the old plank road” series.
Back to Mercator Lane - A Compass would also regularly be used to in naval navigation and would be used on a Mercator projection map, coincidence? There is a Cartography Lane in the development, so I lean towards the Compass being related to the street names, but the fact it was a technical school which included drafting skills is a nice touch to me as it would be used there as well. Perhaps this is coincidence, or you see what you want to see?
Congratulations to K.B for a rapid FTF
