The "Springvale Rec" has long been a swimming and recreation area since at least the 1950s. Over the years, it has had many upgrades including covered picnic areas (which can be reserved/rented), a children's playground, volleyball court. It is open to the public once the snow is gone except for Tuesdays and Wednesday (7:30 am to 5:30 pm) for seven weeks starting the third week of June, when it is used by the Sanford/Springvale Parks & Rec Day Camp Program.
This bison tube hide marks the entrance to "The Rec" area and is available year round (unless there's a huge amount of snow) even on day camp days. Feel free to drive down and explore the park, picnic and access Mousam Way Trail North along side the Mousam River. (The sign says 'no dogs', but if you are going to walk your dog on the trail, that's okay.
