Salmon Trail Extension: This path heads south along the River Spey linking the Salmon Trail with the Speyside Way. It can be walked (or cycled) as a separate loop from Kinchurdy Road at the tarred road end where there is space for a three or four cars. Alternatively this path can be walked as a continuation of the Salmon Trail (from golf course end). The Salmon Trail Extension Loop on its own is about 8km, but if you’re looking for a long-distance walk / cycle you could start at the Boat of Garten Golf Course, head south along the Salmon Trail, do most of the Salmon Trail extension and then go onto the Speyside way and find the numerous caches left by Highland Haggi and Linlaw on the way to Aviemore.
Sheep (and lambs) may be on this path, although most are in the neighbouring fields. BYOP and tweezers may be helpful for some of the caches.
Caches hidden with kind permission of Seafield Estate
Great spot for picnic or rest and access to the river for any thirsty geomutts. Look out for the river wildlife including Otters and Goldeneye.
