Villovieco se emplaza en el centro provincial, en la comarca natural de Tierra de Campos. El río Ucieza se adentra en su término municipal por el este, bañando el sur del caserío en las cercanías del entrañable Monumento al Peregrino. Aunque la localidad se aleja prudencialmente de la senda peregrina del Camino de Santiago, la senda peregrina jacobea se adentra en su término municipal, lo que hace mantener el espíritu peregrino, pues en otros tiempos, los peregrinos del Medievo se acercaban hasta la localidad para recibir alojamiento y asistencia hospitalaria en el desaparecido hospital de Nuestra Señora, San Sebastián, San Roque y Todos los Santos. Esta influencia peregrina hizo que Villovieco llegara a tener varios templos, según consta en diversa documentación adscribía las iglesias de Santa María, San Jorge y San Sebastián, sobreviviendo solo la primera. Los expertos dicen que la denominación de Villovieco le vino dada al añadir el topónimo “Ovecen”, seguramente del nombre del repoblador de la villa, al nombre latino “Villa”, con significado de granja, pequeña quinta, etc. En un documento de San Zoilo, fechada en el año 1000, se cita al pueblo como “Villa Ovieco”, “El lugar de la quinta de Ovieco”.
Se sitúa a una distancia de 41 km de Palencia, al norte de la capital por la autovía A-67, Meseta – Cantabria, incorporándonos en Frómista a la carretera P-980 dirección Carrión de los Condes hasta Revenga de Campos, donde iremos en dirección norte por la PP-9801, hasta alcanzar en aproximadamente 1 km este hermoso pueblo terracampino. Celebra sus Fiestas Patronales el 3 de mayo con la Exaltación de la Santa Cruz y el 2 de julio, Santa Isabel. En definitiva, una localidad al amparo del Camino de Santiago Francés, que no podemos dejar de visita para disfrutar de los encantos que ofrece.
-La Iglesia de Santa María:
De finales del siglo XVI data la iglesia parroquial de Santa María, sencillo templo, en el que destaca la cajonería de la sacristía realizada en 1579. En el retablo mayor puede admirarse una imagen de la Asunción. Conserva curiosas alusiones jacobeas a la batalla de Clavijo.

-Las bodegas: Subiendo el pueblo, enlo alto de una loma se encuentran las bodegas, utilizadas desde hace siglos para la elaboración del vino,actualmente la mayoría se encuentran en desuso para esta tarea, pero algunas siguen siendo utilizadas habitualmente para meriendas y cenas, pasar el rato bebiendo un porrón de vino y disfrutar del buen tiempo, especialmente en verano.

-The Church of Santa María:
The parish church of Santa María dates back to the end of the 16th century, a simple temple, in which the sacristy's drawers made in 1579 stand out. In the main altarpiece you can admire an image of the Assumption. It preserves curious Jacobean allusions to the battle of Clavijo.

-The wineries: Going up the town, at the top of a hill, are the wineries, used for centuries for the production of wine, currently most are disused for this task, but some are still regularly used for snacks and dinners, spend time drinking a glass of wine and enjoy the good weather, especially in summer.
