London Cannon Street station opened in 1866 as the South Eastern and Chatham Railway terminus in the City of London. Trains bring in commuters from the south east area of London who work in the City. Sir John Hawkshaw was an engineerer and designed much of the old station. The station was almost destroyed during the Blitz of the Second Workd War and for many years the station was roofless until the 1980s when an office block was built over the platforms. In 2015 another make-over was completed as we see it today.
