Salem Township Library is hosting an event to learn about geocaching. Geocaching is great way to get outside and have an adventure. You can describe it as a treasure hunt. Geocaching will take you to new places, discover history and senic views. Some people use geocaching as a way to get excersize and others just to stroll around and learn new things.
This event will last about an hour, starting at 2pm on June 19. Three new geocaches will be published nearby and we will take a walk to find them. We will start inside the library, take the walk, and then finish up in the library answering questions. The geocaches will remain for the rest of the summer.
If you want to get started with your own geocaching account prior to the event, then here are some instructions. Geocaching has a website at geocaching.com. You can register a for a free account. There is a premium too, but I would suggest starting with the free account. Pick a unique geocaching name. The instructor fo the class is called CCSquire. His name is from his high school mascot. Other geocachers have names like PuzzleGirl, Critterlover, FlipFlopFly, Boxman, MKettel...Pick something that is interesting to you. You might find that 20 years from now, people still know you by that name. Pick something that is short. After a while, you do not want to sign that long name like JustAFriendFromWork. If you choose a name and register for an account, then the next step is downloading a geocaching app to a phone. CCSquire has an android phone and uses mostly an app called C:Geo.
You do not need to set up an accournt to love this event. However, it might be easier to help out if you have questions.
