Geocache Description:

Welcome back to the 5th installment of this series which harkens back to tales we heard when we were little. The Pied Piper of Hamelin is a legend from the German town of Hamelin of events which occured in 1284.

The following is the tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin:

One day the village council got together because they needed to find a solution to the rats which plagued the sewers and streets of the town.
"We should burn them out," cried one member.
"Nay, let's set the dogs on them!" cried another. And so went the shouting. Then one elder spoke up.
"Why not hire the Pied Piper? I hear his music is something that no living being can resist when targeted." So it was agreed.
The pied piper arrived the following week in his patched cloak and vibrant tights with his glinting magic pipe. And he did just as he was told. Playing his melody, all the rats followed him to the Weser river where they marched in and immediately drowned in its strong current.
The piper came back to the town once the deed was done expecting his payment, but th emayor refused to follow thrugh on his word, so on Saint John and Paul's day, while all the adults were in church, the Pied Piper took out his revenge on the town and lured all the children out with his sonorous melody except for three, one lame, one blind, and one deaf, and they were never to be seen again.

The End

A tale with a dark twist at the end. The pied piper is still regarded as a savior, but it teaches us to follow through on our promises with the 3 children being left behind symbolizing faith hope and love, and how they are hurt (wouned faith, blind to hope, and deaf to love) but they still remain.

Cache info:

You shall be playing the role of the Pied Piper so dress up in your most colorful garments and don't forget your magic pipe. Lure the rats out as you walk through the "town" (there is a walking path between the two stages). Hopefully you won't be exacting revenge for I have provided a regular sized container as your payment.

You may bring the stamp with you to the final if you wish, but it belongs in S1 so make sure it is there before you leave.

Parking: Please only park in the designated visitor parking zones, and if they are full you can park streetside on Livingstone Station St.

Happy Caching!
