I've seen this all over the internet and it gets me sooooo frustrated that sooooo many people are getting it wrong!!!!!

What is BIDMAS?
Well, BIDMAS is an acronym that tells you the correct order in which to complete an equation when there are different operations. BIDMAS stands for Brackets, Indices, Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction.
ie:
- Brackets first
- Then Indices
- Then Division and Multiplication... whichever comes first from left to right
- Then finally Addition and Subtraction... whichever comes first from left to right
NOTE: some calculators can't handle 2(1+2) correctly but we all know there is an "x" between the 2 and the bracket as in 6÷2x(1+2)
Mathematicians leave the "x" out only because they tell us they haven't got time to write everything down when they have lots of important maths to maths... we know the truth is they are just lazy and want to use all that extra time they save geocaching.
So to solve the above expression... 6÷2(1+2) = 6÷2x3 = 3x3 = 9
