All are invited to attend the event outside Pickering railway station on Monday, 8th July, 2024 at 12pm to 1pm

There is no physical SideTracked cache at Pickering station (in fact there are no physical caches in all of Pickering!) however, there will be a caching event at noon today. Join the host outside the station in the little public corner of the town for a geochat and exchange of Trackables.
The first railway line reached Pickering in 1836 from Whitby, horses was the traction hauling wagons between the two towns. It wasn't until 1846 that the line was built from the south with steam engines running. The present station opened that year on the 25 June. It closed in 1965, as with many lines and stations at that time. In 1967 a group of locals went out of there way to save the station and the line. They managed to get the trains running back at Pickering station on the 24th May 1975. Today, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway run trains every day throughout the peak seasons from Pickering to Whitby on the national rail network.
